Shankar Bongjang studied at Parijat from grade 4 to grade 10. An early alumnus, he is today a constable in Assam Police. “When I was growing up, there was no school nearby and I enrolled at Parijat that was almost 25 km away from my village. I was only 11 and Uttam Sir took me under his wing. He meant everything to me–a teacher, guide, father figure and mentor. I ended up staying in the hostel for 10 years, even when I went to college in Guwahati. Without Uttam Sir’s relentless guidance, motivation and attention, I wouldn’t be here today, serving in Assam Police as a Constable.” 

Seuti  completed her high school education at Parijat and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Handique Girls’ College, Guwahati. She is a teacher at Parijat.  “I was 10 when I first came to Parijat Academy and got admitted to class 3. Since then I have literally grown up here. After I graduated from college, I joined Parijat as a teacher in 2022. I have witnessed Uttam Sir’s struggles and hardships closely. His dedication and commitment is a source of daily inspiration for us, our parents and the entire community. I’m proud and privileged to be a part of his team and I hope to remain associated with Parijat Academy in the future too.” 

Shilpi Das completed her high school education at Parijat and is currently studying in university and aspires to join the armed forces.  “I moved to Parijat from a local government school when I was around 16 years old. My main motivation was sports because I had heard that children from Parijat receive sports training and participate in sports meets. And Parijat fulfilled my dream. I took part in several state and national level athletic meets and won medals. It is my dream to now join the armed forces on the basis of my track and field achievements.”
